What Can You Do?
Glass food and drink containers may make up a small percentage of the total waste generated here in the United States, but it's an area of recycling that has the potential for the most impact. Every ton of glass containers that's recycled and reused saves over a ton of natural resources, not to mention miles and miles of landfill space. BottleChange is committed to improving the environment and reducing the amount of glass waste by recycling liquor and wine bottles that would ordinarily get thrown away. Here are ways you can help support the cause:
8 Easy Ways to Reduce Waste
Purchase a BottleChange product rather than those requiring the mining and transporting of raw materials such as sand, soda ash, limestone, and feldspar.
Think about how many products you purchase and utilize in your daily life and try to bring that number down.
Look for alternative uses and ways you can up-cycle the items that you have at home.
Purchase items with minimal packaging or potential waste.
Inspire others to up-cycle!
Pass on your up-cycled creations to others and spread the cause through CraigsList, Freecycle, Etsy, or even on your local bulletin board.
Donate your bottles to BottleChange, if you're in Eastern Washington, or contribute to other programs like Reuse Glass Bottles if your local recycling facility doesn't accept glass.
Take your own bottles to be refilled by local brewers and vintners. Many brewers sell growlers to reduce local waste.
Make your own beverages with home brewing, sodastream, fermentation, etc. and store them in used bottles, jars, and jugs.
